Snakes often sunbathe on rocks in the warm weather. This is because snakes are cold-blooded and they need the sun’s warmth to heat their body up. Most snakes live in the country. Some types of snakes live in trees, some snakes live in water, but most live on the ground in thick, long grass and in old logs.

Making Paper from Woodchips

Do you have any paper in your bag? It may seem like a silly question but do you know how to make paper? What is paper made of? Right. And how about ‘wood chipping’? Have you ever heard about it? Well, wood chipping is a process used to obtain pulp and paper products from forest trees.

First of all, the tops and branches of the trees are cut out and then the logs are taken to the mill. At the mill the bark of the logs is removed and the logs are taken to a chipper which cuts them into small pieces called woodchips. The woodchips are then screened to remove dirt and other impurities. Hmmm,……at this stage they are either exported in this form or changed into the pulp by chemicals and heat. Oh, I almost forget, the pulp is then bleached and the water content is removed. Finally, the pulp is rolled out to make paper.

Considering the complexity of making paper, let’s appreciate any paper on our hands. Use it more effectively. Thank you for listening. Bye.

Memo

To: Anita Wheeler Date: 31 December

From: Dolly Dean Subject: Jack Bowers

I’m fed up with Bowers. He doesn’t care about his job one bit. He can’t keep up with his work. He doesn’t get along with the other people in the office. I can’t count on him to be on time-or even to come to work at all! Today, he didn’t show up and he didn’t even call up to say why. I had to get lily to fill in for him-and heaven knows she has enough to do.

You know I always insist on hard work. Well, believe me, I’ve told Bowers exactly what I think of his behavior, but it just doesn’t get through to him. Frankly I’m not going to put up with this any longer. When he shows up tomorrow-if he shows up at all-I’m going to tell him that he’s had it.
